As part of yesterday’s celebrations for '75 years of the NHS' students at Lotus wrote either a letter or a card to doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants to show their appreciation for the work they do. Some of our students were unaware of the different types of staff and the detailed work that goes into their jobs. After a discussion, it was lovely to hear each class create a vocabulary wall of words that they wanted to include.
A member of staff then went to Royal Preston Hospital to pass some of the notes on for their staff room wall. The nurses were thrilled, they read them out loud to patients and sent photos to fellow staff who were off.
The ward manager of one ward said: “Thanks is hard to come by up here for my staff so tell your students thanks from us.”
